Update on cold weather and school activities
As of Wednesday morning, all Bastrop ISD facilities will be operating on a normal schedule. Campuses are prepared to respond to power outages if necessary to ensure the safety of our staff and students.
There has been no discussion or plans for any early dismissal and/or cancellation of school activities today, Wednesday, February 2. District administrators will continue to monitor weather conditions and any decision to modify our school day will come at the direction of the Superintendent.
Bastrop ISD will continue to receive updates from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and Bluebonnet Electric Coop regarding the statewide power emergency and rolling blackouts that are expected to continue throughout the day.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a slight chance of snow late Thursday night into Friday morning for the Central Texas area. However, local forecasts indicate snow accumulation is unlikely to occur.
As with any forecast, conditions may change at a moment’s notice. Therefore, we ask that you continue to monitor local news media reports and the District website at [ http://www.bastrop.isd.tenet.edu ]www.bastrop.isd.tenet.edu for weather related updates and potential changes to the instructional day. Information will be posted on the District website, sent out by via email by the School Messenger system and E-News list and posted on Facebook and Twitter.
